Birth Doula Support

From the moment you book your birth with me, my dedicated and personalised support begins. Together, we’ll create a meaningful connection, ensuring you feel heard, understood, and prepared for every step of your journey into parenthood.

As your birth doula, I will be your unwavering support throughout pregnancy, labour, and the early postpartum period. My role is to provide you with the emotional, physical, and practical care you need, ensuring you feel confident, empowered, and nurtured during this transformative time.

What I Will Do as Your Birth Doula

Personalised Antenatal Sessions

We’ll begin with personalised antenatal sessions, tailored entirely to you and your needs. In these sessions, I will:

  • Listen and Support: I’ll hold space for your hopes, questions, and any concerns you may have, helping you feel grounded and prepared.

  • Plan Together: We’ll discuss your birth preferences, ensuring your plan reflects your unique needs and values.

  • Educate and Empower: I’ll guide you through understanding birth physiology and the processes of labour, empowering you with the knowledge to trust your body.

  • Prepare Your Partner: If you have a birth partner, I’ll equip them with practical tools, techniques, and confidence to support you fully during labour.

These sessions are a time for us to connect, build trust, and create a solid foundation for your birth experience.

On-Call Support

From 38 weeks I will be on call 24/7. Whether you need reassurance, advice, or someone to talk to, I’ll be there for you whenever labour begins. If you’re expecting multiples or have additional needs, I can be available earlier to ensure continuous care.

During Labour and Birth

When your active labour begins, I will join you and remain by your side for the entirety of your birth. I will:

  • Be Your Calm Presence: I’ll provide emotional reassurance, helping you feel safe and supported every step of the way.

  • Offer Practical Comfort Measures: These may include breathing techniques, massage, encouraging position changes, and using a TENS machine or birth ball to ease discomfort.

  • Support Your Partner: I’ll ensure your birth partner feels confident and included, offering them guidance and suggestions to support you effectively.

  • Bring Practical Tools: I’ll bring resources like my birth pool, and many other pain relief tools from my Mary Poppins doula bag and anything else we’ve discussed, to ensure your space feels prepared and comfortable.

Once your baby is born, I will:

  • Support Early Breastfeeding: Helping you and your baby settle into those first important feeds.

  • Protect the Golden Hour: I’ll create a calm and nurturing space for you to bond with your baby and adjust to your new family dynamic.

  • Help You Settle: I’ll make sure you feel physically comfortable and emotionally cared for before I leave.

Postnatal Visits and Ongoing Care

My care continues after your baby is born. I’ll visit you 1-2 times postnatally, depending on your needs. During these visits, I will:

  • Celebrate Your Birth: I’ll hold space for you to share and process your birth story, reflecting on your experience with care and understanding.

  • Provide Practical Support: Whether it’s feeding guidance, helping you adjust to life with your baby, or offering resources for additional support, I’m here to help.

  • Offer Continued Reassurance: I’ll provide referrals and recommendations for local postnatal services if needed, ensuring you have the support you require.

For six weeks after birth, I’ll also be available by phone to answer questions, offer advice, or simply provide a listening ear as you navigate the early days of parenthood.

Short-Notice Bookings

If you decide late in your pregnancy that you need additional support, I’m here to help. If I have availability, we’ll arrange a half-day session, including a relaxed lunch, where we’ll focus on your birth preparation. This time allows us to build a connection and ensure you feel confident and supported.

The fee for short-notice bookings is £1900, which includes antenatal preparation, full birth support, and postnatal care.
